Iranian ‘Snail’ wins award in Switzerland

Iranian short film ‘Snail’ has won an award from the 2019 International Oriental Film Festival (FIFOG) of Geneva.

Directed by Mohammad Torivarian, the short has taken home the Special Mention of the Swiss film event.

‘Snail’ narrates the story of three young people who want to cross the border illegally and enter Turkey. The human traffickers involved in their unlawful act sabotage the plan due to their religious beliefs.

The film has already attended a number of international film events including 3rd edition of Beloit International Film Festival in the US.

The FIFOG is an important cinematographic event in the cultural landscape of French-speaking Switzerland, which promotes cinema, diversity and intercultural dialogue. It annually presents 100 films of all genres, along with about 60 guests from around the world.

The 14th edition of the FIFOG held April 29-May 5, 2019, in Geneva
